Meeting with Slovak university representatives

On 24 January 2018, a meeting of ATC SK representatives and several translation companies with representatives of universities offering translation studies programmes, was held at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.

The total number of 18 participants consisted of two ATCSK representatives - ASAP Translation.com and LEXIKA. Companies exe, Lionbridge and Translata also accepted the invitation.

Universities were represented by Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, The University of Prešov, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and University of Economics in Bratislava.

Although the participants were originally invited to a round table, we dared to surprise them and turned it into a highly productive, pleasant and constructive workshop.

The meeting summarized main objectives set by university representatives as well as translation companies who wish to fulfil them by means of mutual cooperation.

Participants selected some key objectives and developed a plan which is to be implemented in the foreseeable future.

We believe that despite the complex nature of some problems and a wide scope of changes necessary to eliminate them, we have taken gradual steps for intensifying our cooperation. Hopefully, it will result in changes beneficial to all concerned parties: translation studies graduates, universities offering translation training programmes as well as translation companies.
