Professor. Edita Gromová awarded prize from translation industry association
Prof. PhDr. Edita Gromová, Csc. awarded a prize for her long-term contribution to the development of cooperation
On 18 October 2016, the Association of Translation Companies of Slovakia attended a meeting of the European Master's in Translation (EMT) Network held on the premises of the Department of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. The university thus joined the nearly 70 universities from 23 EU member countries. Since 2011, the university in Nitra has been the only Slovak university to meet the requirements to become a member of this Europe-wide university network.
On that occasion, ATCSK made a special award to Prof. PhDr. Edita Gromová, Csc., the long-standing head of the Department of Translation Studies FA CPU. The association expressed its gratitude for the creation of the grounds for close cooperation between the department and the member companies of ATCSK, as well as for the long-term support on the part of the university. The president of the association, Michal Kmeť, awarded Prof. Gromová the ATCSK Prize in recognition of her long-term work to bridge the divide between academia and practical experience.
Apart from the close cooperation, the association acknowledges that the Department of Translation Studies FA CPU is following trends in the translation industry and is continuously updating the curriculum with relevant subjects, such as Audiovisual Translation, Machine Translation, Post-Editing Machine Translation and many others.
ATCSK believes that the present cooperation between the Department of Translation Studies FA CPU and the members of the association will successfully continue into the future.
